You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.

I'm Marcia Redwood and I am a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor, based in Bideford, North Devon. My counselling room is in Bideford, with parking nearby. I also offer Zoom counselling to anyone within the UK. This can be helpful if you have concerns about crossed boundaries or relationships, although as a BACP registered counsellor I am bound by its code of ethics, which includes maintaining confidentiality.

I have called my counselling service Take Two because I believe it shows what I hope counselling can do for you. Take Two aims to help you take time for a reset, discover more about who you are and why you are, providing you with the knowledge to be able to meet challenges you meet. Take Two also relates to the counselling relationship. It will Take Two of us to talk, to listen and to learn together about you, and I believe that our relationship is key to you moving forward.

I want to help people reach their full potential and feel that counselling can go some way to helping achieve that. I will listen without judgement and with compassion and empathy. I will encourage you to offer yourself compassion, not blame; understanding, not guilt; and kindness not judgement.

I have worked within the NHS  helping the patients of a GP practice in North Devon with their challenges and difficulties.

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to give you the opportunity to explore how we can work together.

As an integrative counsellor I am able to use different theories depending on your individual needs to help you understand what is happening to you or why you react in certain ways. A key aspect of my role is to help you get to know yourself better. I do this by listening and inquiry. As you become more aware of yourself you will start to notice familiar behaviours, reactions or patterns. Awareness of these can be the starting point to making changes, where necessary.

The main theories I work with are Attachment, Transactional Analysis and Polyvagal. However, every client is different and our sessions will focus on your needs, working together to resolve or determine the challenges you are facing. The most important aspect of our work will be me listening to you to help us build a strong working relationship, where you feel safe and cared for.

I have worked with a number of issues, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, bereavement, dependency, anger and identity.

I am a registered data controller with the ICO, and therefore comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.
